How to set-up your cold tub: Five-step quick start guide

Before using your cold tub, inspect it after delivery, place it on a suitable foundation and complete the start-up procedure for its specific equipment configuration. You can use the video above for reference when your cold tub matches the model shown.

Before Starting: Inspect and Position the Cold Tub

  1. Remove the packaging and inspect the cold tub for shipping damage.
  2. Set the start-up kit and cover aside where they will remain clean and protected.
  3. Move the cold tub into its final location using appropriate moving equipment.
  4. Place it on a flat, level surface capable of supporting its full operating weight.
  5. Allow the cold tub to remain upright for at least 24 hours before filling it or connecting it to power.

Step 1: Check the Connections

  1. Remove the trim strip using the square-drive bit supplied in the start-up kit.
  2. Lift the equipment-end cabinet panel until it stops.
  3. Pull the bottom of the panel outward at an angle to release it from the lower channel.
  4. Confirm that all visible plumbing unions are secure.
  5. Make sure all slice valves are fully open in the raised position.
  6. If the cold tub has the internal ball valve shown in the video, turn it to the open position for filling.

Do not force or overtighten plumbing unions. Confirm that their O-rings remain properly seated.

Step 2: Fill and Prime the Cold Tub

  1. Attach the supplied prefilter to a garden hose.
  2. Begin filling the cold tub with fresh tap water.
  3. Continue filling until the water reaches at least the minimum fill line.
  4. Turn off the hose and remove the prefilter.
  5. If the cold tub has the internal ball valve shown in the video, return it to the position specified by the owner’s manual before priming.
  6. Insert the garden hose into one of the two circulation jets while blocking the other jet.
  7. Turn the hose on for several seconds, then turn it off and remove it. This helps fill the plumbing and reduce the risk of an air lock.
  8. Install the filter according to the owner’s manual for your model.
  9. Reinstall the filter-housing cover.

Do not connect the cold tub to power before it is filled to the minimum level.

Step 3: Connect the Condensation Drain

Condensation is a normal result of heat-pump operation. Attach the supplied clear 3/8-inch hose to the drain-line coupler and route the line away from the cold tub to an appropriate drainage area.

Make sure the line is not kinked, blocked or positioned where discharged water could damage the foundation or create a slipping hazard.

Step 4: Connect the Power

Connect the cold tub only to the grounded, GFCI-protected electrical supply specified in the owner’s manual for its model.

The unit demonstrated in the video uses a dedicated 15-amp circuit. Electrical requirements may differ for other models and model years, so verify the required voltage and circuit rating before connecting power.

Step 5: Start the Heat Pump

  1. Press and hold the heat-pump power button for approximately two seconds.
  2. Confirm that water begins circulating through the cold tub and heat pump.
  3. Press the mode button to select the operating mode. The video recommends the automatic heating-and-cooling mode when both mode indicators are illuminated.
  4. Use the arrow controls to select the desired water temperature.

On compatible models, “NET” flashes on the heat-pump display for approximately 10 minutes after start-up. This is the pairing window for the Smart Life app.

Complete the Water-Care Setup

Once normal circulation is established and the desired temperature has been selected, test and balance the cold tub water before use:

Do not enter the cold tub until its temperature, water chemistry and circulation are within the requirements listed in the owner’s manual.
