The Hanna System automates water monitoring and chemical dosing for the Chilly GOAT Alpine PRO. Complete this mechanical installation before filling and starting the cold tub. Work carefully, protect the acrylic surface and use two people when handling the mounted cabinet panel.
Step 1: Prepare the Work Area
- Position the Alpine PRO with the vent side oriented so the Hanna cabinet will align with the right side of the equipment bay.
- Locate the two thick corrugated pads included in the packaging.
- Place the pads on top of the cold tub shell to create a protected work surface.
Keep hardware, O-rings and removed components organized throughout the installation.
Step 2: Remove the Hanna Cover and Cabinet Panel
- Loosen the two thumb screws on the black Hanna System cover.
- Lift the cover straight off and place it in a protected location.
- Remove the side cabinet panel where the Hanna System will be mounted.
- Lay the panel flat on the corrugated work surface.
Step 3: Mount the Hanna System
- Position the Hanna mounting board over the predrilled holes in the cabinet panel.
- Align the plumbing unions with the openings in the panel.
- Make sure the bottom edge of the mounting board is flush with the bottom of the cabinet.
- Use the shorter silver screws to secure the mounting board to the cabinet panel.
If using an electric screwdriver, use a low-torque setting. Do not overtighten the screws. Set the longer black screws aside for the final cabinet installation.
Step 4: Position the Mounted Panel
Stand the mounted cabinet panel in front of the plumbing side of the Alpine PRO. The lower portion of the cabinet can help support the panel while the plumbing is connected.
Two people are strongly recommended for this portion of the installation: one person to stabilize the panel and one to make the plumbing and cable connections.
Step 5: Connect the Plumbing
- Loosen the plumbing unions on the back of the Hanna System.
- Set each union and O-ring aside carefully.
- Disconnect the existing return-jet plumbing union on the Alpine PRO and retain its O-ring.
- Connect the inlet plumbing that supplies water to the Hanna System.
- Connect the outlet plumbing from the Hanna System.
- Connect the Hanna outlet to the cold tub return-jet plumbing.
Confirm that every O-ring is present, clean and seated correctly before tightening the unions. Thread each union on smoothly and securely without forcing or cross-threading it.
Step 6: Route the Probe and Power Cables
- Route the probe cable and Hanna power cable through their provided grommets.
- Feed each cable through gently without pulling, twisting or placing tension on its connection.
- Route the Hanna power cable over the top of the heat pump and toward the main control box.
Step 7: Connect the Hanna System Power
- Remove the screws securing the main control-box cover.
- Locate the wire-channel clamp on the left side of the control box.
- Loosen and open the clamp.
- Place the Hanna power cord into an available wire channel.
- Connect the Hanna power leads to the open Y-connector pigtail inside the control box.
- Leave a small amount of slack in the cable.
- Retighten the wire-channel clamp and reinstall the control-box cover.
Step 8: Reinstall and Secure the Cabinet
- Lift the cabinet panel beneath the acrylic lip.
- Align the panel with the channels along the bottom of the tub.
- Lower the panel into position. It should seat without excessive force.
- Use the longer black screws to secure the Hanna mounting board to the cold tub frame.
- Reinstall the black Hanna System cover.
The mounting board, cabinet and cold tub frame should now form one secure assembly.
Step 9: Complete Start-up and Calibration
The Hanna System is now mechanically installed. Do not enable the chemical-dosing pumps yet.
- Follow Cold Tub Start-up Basics for the Alpine and Alpine PRO to install the filter, fill the tub and establish full circulation.
- Once the tub is filled and circulating, follow How to Calibrate the Hanna System .
